Batten for BMW

Tablet and camera mount for the BMW 5 Series and i5 Touring (G61)

On the list · G61 · 2024 on

Batten clips into the factory luggage-net points in the roof lining of the BMW 5 Series and i5 Touring (G61) to carry cameras, facing forward through the windscreen or back over the seats. Tablets for the rear seats need points behind the front seats, which we haven't confirmed on this car yet. No drilling, and nothing clamped to the headrests.

The 5 Series and i5 Touring and its roof points

The newest 5 Series Touring and the electric i5 Touring share a body. We expect the same kind of roof points as the G31, but haven't confirmed them yet.

Does your car have the points?

Look for sliding covers in the headliner on each side, just behind the rear seats. BMW's partition net fits retainers under them. Some cars built for markets outside the UK don't have them.

Where to look: on the roof lining, just behind the front seats and just behind the rear seats, one on each side.

Some cars hide the point under a small trim cap. On many, including most VW Group cars, there's no cap and the slot is just visible.
The trim cap flipped open, showing a keyhole-shaped slot outlined in amber and a mushroom-headed peg with an arrow sliding along the slot.
