Batten

Terms and conditions

Last updated 31 October 2026

The short version

  • Joining the waitlist is free and commits you to nothing. It isn't an order, and we can't promise Batten will fit your car until we've confirmed it.
  • Fit Batten only as our instructions say, and only to a car we list as compatible, using the car's own undamaged roof-liner fitting points.
  • Batten is an accessory, not a safety device. Don't fit it, or anything on it, where it could block your view or an airbag. A driver must never watch a tablet on it while driving.
  • If Batten is faulty, or we're careless, and that damages your car or anything else, we'll put it right. We aren't responsible for damage caused by fitting it wrongly, using it on a car it isn't made for, overloading it, changing it, or ignoring these terms.
  • None of this takes away your legal rights as a consumer.

Please read Fitting and using Batten safely and Our responsibility for loss or damage in full. They're the parts most likely to matter to you.

1. About these terms

Batten is a trading name of Wolstapp Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 14963179), whose registered office is 10 Fern Valley Chase, Todmorden, OL14 7HB ("we", "us"). You can contact us at hello@battenrig.co.uk.

These terms apply when you use this website, join the waitlist, or buy or use Batten. Our privacy notice explains how we use your details.

"Batten" means the mounting rig, its fittings and holders, and any parts or accessories we sell for it.

2. Using this website

We describe Batten here as accurately as we can, but it's still being developed. Photos, drawings, the list of cars and the uses we describe are a guide and may change before Batten goes on sale. Only the details confirmed when you order form part of a contract.

We try to keep the site working and free of errors and viruses, but we can't promise it always will be. We may change, suspend or withdraw it at any time.

Please don't misuse the site: no automated sign-ups, no attempts to get around the robot check, and nothing that interferes with how it works.

3. The waitlist

Joining the waitlist is free. It isn't an order or a reservation, it doesn't commit you to buy anything, and it doesn't commit us to sell to you, to make Batten for your car, or to launch at all.

We'll use what you tell us to email you about Batten and to decide which cars come next, as our privacy notice explains. You can leave the list at any time.

4. Which cars Batten fits

Batten clips into the fitting points that some car makers build into the roof liner for a factory cargo net or dog guard. Not every version of a car has them, and some cars only have them behind the rear seats.

Our list of cars shows which models we believe have these points, based on our research. It's a guide, not a promise that Batten will fit your car. Before you buy, we'll confirm which cars each Batten is made for, and which uses (tablets, cameras, or both) each car supports. It's up to you to check that your car has the fitting points, using our guide or your car's handbook.

Batten isn't made, approved or endorsed by any car maker. Car makers' names are used only to describe which cars it's designed for.

5. Buying Batten

Batten isn't on sale yet. When it is, these terms will apply to your order alongside anything we confirm when you place it.

  • Your order. Placing an order is an offer to buy. A contract only exists once we email to confirm we've accepted it. If we can't accept it, for example because we can't supply a version for your car, we'll tell you and won't charge you, or we'll refund you in full.
  • Price. Prices include VAT where it applies. If we've made an obvious mistake in a price, we'll tell you and you can choose to go ahead at the correct price or cancel for a full refund.
  • Delivery. We'll give you an estimated delivery date. If we're delayed by something outside our control, we'll let you know and do what we can to limit the delay. If it's a long delay, you can cancel for a full refund. Batten is your responsibility once it's delivered to you or to someone you've nominated.
  • Selling to you. We sell to customers in the United Kingdom. We sell to consumers for their own use, and to businesses on the extra terms in section 10.

6. Changing your mind

If you're a consumer you can cancel within 14 days of receiving Batten, for any reason. Email hello@battenrig.co.uk to tell us. You then have 14 days to send it back.

  • We'll refund the price and the standard delivery cost within 14 days of receiving it back, or of you showing us you've sent it.
  • You pay to return it, unless it's faulty or not as described.
  • You can unpack Batten and try it in your car as you would in a shop. If it comes back damaged, or showing more use than that, we may reduce your refund to reflect it.

7. If something's wrong

We have to supply Batten as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for the purpose we say it's for. If it isn't, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 gives you these rights:

  • Up to 30 days after delivery, you can reject it for a full refund.
  • Up to six months after delivery, we'll repair or replace it. If that doesn't work, or isn't possible, you can have a refund.
  • After six months, you can still have a repair, replacement or partial refund if the fault was there when we delivered it, though you may need to show this.
  • You can make a claim for up to six years (five in Scotland).

Wear and tear, and damage caused by an accident, misuse, fitting it wrongly or changing it, aren't faults. Nothing in these terms affects these rights. Citizens Advice (citizensadvice.org.uk) can tell you more.

8. Fitting and using Batten safely

Batten is designed to be fitted and removed by hand, without tools or any change to the car. To use it safely, and for our promises about it to apply, you must:

  • Fit it as our instructions say, only to a car we list as compatible, and only to the car's own factory fitting points. Don't fit it if the points, or the roof liner around them, are missing, loose, damaged, worn or aftermarket.
  • Check it's secure before every journey, and stop using it if any part is cracked, bent, worn or loose.
  • Stay within our weight limits and carry only the kinds of tablets and cameras we say each holder is for, in our holders.
  • Keep your view clear. Batten, and anything on it, must not block your view through the windscreen, any window or any mirror.
  • Keep clear of airbags. Many cars have curtain airbags along the edge of the roof. Don't fit Batten, or anything on it, where it could get in an airbag's way. Check your car's handbook.
  • Keep screens away from the driver. It's against the law for a driver to be able to see a screen showing anything other than driving information while driving. Tablets on Batten are for passengers. The driver must not watch, touch or set up a device on Batten while driving.
  • Don't change it. Don't modify, repair or add to Batten, or use it with parts that aren't ours.

Batten is an accessory. It isn't a safety device, and it isn't designed to hold anything in place in a crash. The tablet holder is designed to let go under a hard knock rather than stay rigid, so a tablet can come free. Take tablets and cameras off when you aren't using them, and never carry anything on Batten that could hurt someone if it came loose.

Any accessory fitted against trim can leave light marks. Batten is designed not to, but light marks on the roof liner from normal fitting and removal aren't a fault.

If you use Batten on a track, at an event or off-road, check the organiser's rules first. Some don't allow anything mounted in the cabin, especially cameras. Fitting Batten doesn't change the car, but if your insurer asks about accessories or modifications, tell them about it. We can't speak for your car maker's warranty.

9. Our responsibility for loss or damage

What we're responsible for

If we break these terms or are careless, we're responsible for loss or damage you suffer that was a foreseeable result. This includes damage to your car, or to a tablet or camera on Batten, caused by a fault in Batten or by our carelessness.

What we can't limit

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, for breaking your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 (section 7 above), for defective products under the Consumer Protection Act 1987, or for anything else the law doesn't let us limit.

What we're not responsible for

Unless it was caused by a fault in Batten or by our carelessness, we aren't responsible for loss or damage to your car, its trim, your devices, other belongings, or anyone in the car, caused by:

  • fitting or using Batten other than as our instructions and section 8 say;
  • fitting it to a car we don't list as compatible, or to fitting points that are missing, damaged, worn, loose or aftermarket;
  • carrying more than our weight limits, or devices or holders we don't say it's for;
  • modifying or repairing Batten, or using it with parts that aren't ours;
  • carrying on using Batten when it's visibly damaged or worn, or not checking it's secure;
  • a crash, an accident, impact or misuse, including a tablet or camera coming free, or anything it hits;
  • light marks on the trim from normal fitting and removal, or normal wear and tear;
  • how you drive, or using a device on Batten in a way the law doesn't allow;
  • delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control.

We aren't responsible for loss that wasn't foreseeable when the contract was made. We sell Batten for private use, so if you're a consumer we aren't responsible for loss of profit, business, income or opportunity.

Data on a tablet or memory card is your responsibility. Please back it up.

10. If you buy as a business

If you buy or use Batten for a business, such as a production company, film crew or motorsport team, sections 6 and 7 don't apply. Instead:

  • We promise Batten will match its description and be free from material defects for 12 months from delivery. If it isn't, we'll repair or replace it, or refund the price, at our choice. To the extent the law allows, all other terms implied by law are excluded.
  • We aren't responsible for loss of profit, revenue, business, contracts, production time, footage or data, or for any indirect or consequential loss.
  • Our total liability to you for any order is limited to the price paid for that order.
  • You're responsible for your own risk assessment, and for insuring the vehicles and equipment you use with Batten.

Section 9's "What we can't limit" still applies.

11. Our designs and content

Batten's design, name and logo, and this site's text, photos and graphics belong to us. You may view and share pages for your own use. Please don't copy, reproduce or make anything based on our designs without our written permission.

12. Other important terms

  • Changes. We may update these terms. The version on this page when you place an order applies to that order.
  • Complaints. Email hello@battenrig.co.uk and we'll reply within 14 days.
  • If part doesn't apply. If a court decides part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
  • Transfer. We may transfer our rights and duties to another business. If we do, we'll tell you, and it won't reduce your rights.
  • Nobody else. Only you and we can enforce these terms.
  • Law and courts. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring a claim in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts.
